Veteran Programs
Explore, Learn & Belong

Lacawac’s Veteran program is an outdoor education initiative designed specifically for veterans and their families. Rooted in nature-based learning, At Ease offers meaningful experiences that inspire curiosity, build knowledge, and promote overall well-being through hands-on exploration of the natural world.

Become a Community Scientist!

Community science is a method of scientific investigation that relies on the public to collect data. Think of it as crowdsourcing data collection. Community Scientists have helped advance science in many fields including ecology.

PLEON is recruiting Community Limnologists (scientists who study lakes) to help us monitor water quality in the Poconos. We provide the training and you provide the data! Our programs are ideal for individuals, families, and groups. Many of our programs are great for science projects as well.

Nature, Science and Creativity Meet

Each year, a select group of professional and emerging artists are chosen to participate in a week-long residency at Lacawac Sanctuary. Surrounded by the natural beauty and tranquility of our 550-acre preserve, artists are given the time, space, and inspiration to create new works. Housing and studio space are provided, allowing residents to fully immerse themselves in their craft while drawing creative energy from Lacawac’s diverse landscapes and ecosystems.

Tackle Loaner Program

Lacawac Sanctuary partners with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to loan out fishing rods and tackle to individuals or groups who are interested in fishing but may not have equipment of their own, or want to try out to the hobby before purchasing equipment.
