Our Core Values
Conducting Research at Lacawac
Lacawac hosts scientists from all over the country conducting research on a variety of topics including impacts of UV radiation on pelagic communities, the response of lake ecosystems to browning, lakes as climate sentinels, the role of mixotrophy in plankton communities, harmful algal bloom detection, impacts of deer browsing on forest regeneration and soil processes, and turtle ecophysiology.
Hub for EON’s
Lacawac as a field station is becoming a regional research and training hub for the EON’s and is committed to providing a site and resources for researchers and educators to accomplish EON-related projects. Lacawac is a member of the Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network (GLEON) and is the host of the Pocono Lake Ecological Observatory Network (PLEON). Lacawac is also a test site for emerging aquatic sensors, sensor platforms, and sensor techniques.
