You May Be Wondering…

Couples have full access to Lacawac the entire day before their wedding for decorating, setting up, and making the space their own. The day after your celebration is reserved for cleanup and packing up — giving you plenty of time to enjoy your big day without feeling rushed.

Absolutely! We love when couples visit as they plan their special day. Please call or email us in advance to schedule an appointment so we can ensure staff availability. During wedding season, weekdays and Sunday afternoons are typically the best times to visit due to our busy weekend event schedule.

In the event of rain, we have several beautiful alternatives. For smaller weddings, both the ceremony and reception can be held in our historic Carriage House. For larger celebrations, the Carriage House may serve as your ceremony site, or both the ceremony and reception can take place under the covered pavilion.

Yes! You’re welcome to explore the property for photos. In addition to the lodge and lakeside views, favorite photo spots include our pond, forest trails, main gates, and scenic woodland areas. With 550 acres of natural beauty, Lacawac offers endless opportunities for stunning wedding photos.

Yes. There are accessible composting restrooms near the Carriage House (one for men and one for women), as well as traditional flushing restrooms located next to the reception pavilion. For weddings or events with over 125 guests, we recommend renting additional restroom facilities.

Because Lacawac is a natural sanctuary, we recommend that guests avoid high heels and opt for flat, comfortable shoes. Most areas of the property are easy to navigate, and accessibility for wheelchairs, guide dogs, and guests with mobility needs is manageable with some assistance.

We recently upgraded our Wi-Fi across campus, and cell service is generally strong thanks to a nearby cell tower. Connectivity should not be an issue for most carriers.

Lacawac books weddings on a first-come, first-served basis. Once you’ve chosen your date, call us to confirm its availability. We’ll temporarily hold the date (“pencil you in”) until we receive your completed reservation form and membership donation (deposit). At that point, your date is officially reserved and recorded in ink.

Yes! While you’re free to select any vendors you prefer, we’ve compiled a list of trusted local professionals we’ve worked with in the past — from caterers to photographers. Visit the “Vendors”Venue FAQ tab on our website to view the list. We always encourage couples to explore all their options to find the perfect fit for their celebration.

Lacawac Sanctuary proudly welcomes all loving couples. We are committed to acceptance, diversity, and inclusion — celebrating every marriage with equal joy and respect, regardless of sexual orientation, race, or faith.

Onsite field parking is available for guests. There is also direct road access to the venue for convenient drop-off and pick-up. We recommend hiring a valet service to help manage parking efficiently, especially for larger events.

Lacawac does not offer transportation services; however, we’re happy to recommend local shuttle and transportation companies. Our property can easily accommodate buses and shuttles for seamless guest drop-off and pick-up.

Yes! Tents are welcome and can be a beautiful addition to your celebration. All tent placements must be pre-approved by Lacawac to ensure safety and preserve the natural landscape.

Lacawac is a non-smoking venue, including all building overhangs and covered areas. Designated outdoor smoking areas are available and must be used at all times. Smoking is not permitted outside of these areas.

All food must be prepared and served by a licensed and insured catering company. Likewise, all mixed drinks must be served by insured, RAMP-certified bartenders.
We maintain a list of pre-approved caterers and bartenders for your convenience. If you wish to hire a team not on our list, Lacawac reserves the right to review and approve their credentials before confirming your booking.

Yes — candles are permitted as long as the flame is fully enclosed in glass. Open flames are not allowed inside or near any of the historic buildings.

You and your vendors are responsible for removing all items brought onsite by the end of your rental period. Your caterer must clean the prep kitchen, remove all food, and address any food or beverage spills.
Any messes that could stain or damage the venue should be cleaned immediately after the event. You and your catering team are also responsible for transporting all trash to the onsite dumpster before departure.

Sustainability is at the heart of Lacawac’s mission. We encourage couples to celebrate responsibly by making environmentally conscious choices, such as:

  • Choosing a caterer who provides their own china and linens.
  • Renting china, glassware, and silverware instead of using disposable items.
  • Providing reusable glasses or mason jars for guests (they make great keepsakes!).
  • Opting for kegs and boxed wine instead of bottles or cans.
  • Selecting a farm-to-table caterer who uses local, seasonal ingredients.
  • Working with a florist who sources flowers locally and in season.

Small changes can make a big impact on both your celebration and the environment.
